ANGIOGRAM AND ANGIOPLASTY

Angiogram, Angiogram or Arteriograms are terms that describe a terms that a procedure used to identify narrowing or blockages in the arteries in the body. A cardiac angiogram,more commonly cardiac catherization or a Heart Cath,outlines Heart arteries. It is a diagnostic procedure.

Angioplasty

Angioplasty is a procedure to open narrowed or blocked blood vessels that supply blood to the heart. A coronary artery stent is a small,metal mesh tube that expands inside a coronary artery. A stent is often placed during immediately after angioplasty.

INDICATIONS FOR ANGIOGRAM AND ANGIOPLASTY.

  • CAD (CORONARY ARTERY)
  • Acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)
  • Non ST-elevation acute coronary artery
  • Unstable angina
  • Stable angina
  • Anginal equivalent(Dyspnea,arrhythmia,or dizziness or syncope)
  • High risk stress test findings.
